Party Pants take on NEW MEANING

Last night was AMAZING to say the least!

I finally decided to go out to this pub that is within a 5 minute walk from my apartment, La Gaffe. Every Wednesday night the pub had happy hour from 7-10pm (two for one drinks, which include everything!) Most of the exchange students end up heading out for a good night on the town and as I said, I finally decided to join in on the fun.

Brittany, Miriam and I all got out of class at 7pm and we ran to the bus at school in order to make it home in time to stop at the intermarche for some food and time to get ready. As typical college students we decided that ramen noodles would do the trick. One thing I've learned is that France has a lot of similar things (food, drinks, shops, etc.) that the United States does, and lucky for us ramen noodles is one of those things. However, here they are called "Yum Yum."

The three of us intended on meeting our other friends, Abby and Nicole outside of our place and then head to the pub all together, however we were running a little behind. Oh well. Once we got to La Gaffe, it was slowly filling up. Let me also add that Wednesday nights must be the night that all the extremely GOOD LOOKING men come out to play! Talk about a large group of insanely gorgeous men, LOVED IT! :)

Anyways, we all had a fabulous evening out! The place eventually got super packed, and even though it was a bit claustrophobic, just being able to be there with good friends and to be out having a good time with everyone, it really didn't matter that you could barely move.

At the pub, there was a Kings of Leon cover band that was absolutely incredible! Funny thing was, the lead singer looked about 40 years old... just a bit off from the actual group. It was a lot of fun though. I have a feeling that is going to be a regular spot on Wednesday nights for me. :)

When we were all there, and about ready to leave, Miriam and I were trying to find Brittany, however, she was MIA. When she finally came out from the bathroom line she informed us what had previously taken place inside La Gaffe. As she was waiting in line for the bathroom, which was extremely long, the girl in front of her I suppose could not hold "it" long enough. Brittany said that she saw the girl awkwardly bend down in front of her and when she finally popped back up the girl took off running from the line. Brittany and the other girls in line were a bit confused by what had just taken place, until Brittany looked down a saw a puddle in front of her and noticed that her leggings were wet and so were her boots. Apparently, the girl in line peed right there, right on Brittany! As disgusting as it was, all of us couldn't help but laugh at what had just happened. So Brittany and I ran home so that she could take her now wet pee clothes off and get them washed. Talk about a wild and crazy evening out!

So far, it has been a lot of fun here in France. I wake up every morning and realize I am actually living here. It blows my mind each day! I think now that all is going much much better, it will end up being extremely hard to go back to the states. But I guess I will cross that bridge when it gets here. Until then, I am going to be doing as much traveling and exploring as I can! Brittany and I actually booked our flight and hotel in Dublin, Ireland for March 17th-22nd! We are so excited that we get to spend St. Patrick's Day in the Irish country. It is going to be a lot of fun!

Let the Rain Fall Down...

Surprise surprise, it is raining again. Blast this weather. Last time I checked I came to the French Riviera for the sunshine!

Any who, Spring Break has officially come to an end. As of tomorrow morning at 7am I will be waking up to attend my 8:30am Elementary French class. Oh the fun. Hahaha. Good news though, I ended SB with a fantastic evening at my friend Eivind and David's. It was there that I met Alessandra and Csenge. The girls cooked dinner and we ate, drank and David played his guitar and sang. It was overall a fabulous time!

I headed home in the pouring rain once we were done chatting. When I returned home the apartment was empty. I was a bit concerned being that my roommates where suppose to be back today. But I am sure that they are fine, somewhere in Antibes.

I told my Mom yesterday that I was ready for classes to start again. Never thought I would say that... EVER! But I am ready to get back into the swing of things. Crazy!

That's it for me here today. But once classes start back up I'm sure there will be more to add. I am only 11 days away from being in London, England! And once that trip is over I will be heading to Ireland for St. Patrick's Day, which I cannot wait for! :)

Signing out again from Antibes. Au Revoir!

Bonjour!

It has taken me almost 2 months to get this thing up and running, but regardless of the time frame here it is! My official blog from France.

Starting a week from Monday, I will have been in France for exactly two months. I still can't believe it. It really does seem like only last week I was packing my two extremely LARGE suitcases to head over here. Crazy how time flies when you're having fun.

Anyways, I have been on Spring Break since February 18th and it has been one of the most relaxing breaks ever! I literally have done absolutely nothing all week! It's been amazing. Hahaha. Originally, before I even got over here my plan was to travel as much as I possible could. I wanted to go to Spain, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Germany and England. My roommate and I were planning on traveling up and down Italy for all of Spring Break, but instead we decided to push that trip back until the weather was nicer. So she booked a flight to London and Athens, and I decided to spend the week in France. Neither of which were bad ideas. But SB is coming to an end and I am surprisingly happy that I decided to take it easy. :)

Since I have been here I have met some pretty amazing friends. Friends from all over too. One of my roommates, Miriam, is from Germany but studies in London. She is pretty awesome. I think the best part about living with her is getting to learn the differences between American-English and British-English. The conversations we've had have been highly entertaining and informative. My other roommate Brittany is from WCU. The two of us came to France together through the same exchange program. Outside of the two of them I have met a lot of people. Some from Germany, England, South Africa, Norway, and others from all over the United States. It has been amazing to say the least!

Another fun-filled thing since I've been here is that I have been allowed to write a column for the newspaper back at my university. Which has been very exciting! I love that I can write for the students back home and they can read what kind of adventures I am having while I'm here. This is the link http://www.westerncarolinian.com/campus-views/girl-meets-france-1.1116473 Go check it out!

Last month I traveled up to Dublin, Ireland to visit my best friend Michaila. OMG! I absolutely LOVED Ireland! I think the one thing I loved was the fact that everyone spoke English... with an accent. It was amazing. Here in France, it is a given that most people speak french, and being that I have never taken any type of french course in the past I have been at a huge disadvantage from communicating with locals. It sucks, but hopefully taking an Elementary French class at my university here will help. Hopefully! Anyways, back to Ireland. Michaila and I attempted to do as much touristy stuff as possible. She took me to the Guinness Factory which was within walking distance of her house. There is a self-lead walking tour of the factory that is shaped like a pint glass, and at the top is the gravity bar. With the cost of your admission inside, you receive a voucher that gets you a free pint of Guinness in the gravity bar. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10 my trip to Dublin was definitely a 15! Shopping, the Guinness Factory and spending time with my best friend was great! So great that I am planning on going back from March 17th-22nd, to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! :)

In a week from this Friday, I will be leaving for 8 days in London. I am flying up there to spend some time with my mom. It should be grand!

Well it is Lazy Sunday here in France. Just going to finish up some cleaning and laundry. Probably going to take a nap and watch a movie or two. Keep checking back to see my next blog post. :) Until then, goodbye from France.
